Our 2009 New York City Policy Agenda builds on the successes of recent years by reframing sustainability as an engine of economic growth. The city is facing a serious fiscal crisis, and it is more important than ever to advance a broad sustainability agenda that will reduce energy use, foster energy independence, create a sustainable solid waste management system and build a foundation for economic success.

Taken together, our recommendations promote smarter growth and more sustainable lifestyles in the five boroughs.
