NYLCV Forum Series

Education is central to what NYLCVEF is all about. In 2008 NYLCVEF launched its "Powering the Future" campaign. Our goal was to host a series of policy forums aimed at breaking through the clutter surrounding energy policy and providing policy makers and the general public with an unbiased and neutral arena to discuss these critical issues.

Public forums are particularly important for environmental issues, which can often seem distant, complex, and beyond local control. This series allowed political candidates, officeholders, and policy experts to articulate their views on environmental issues and share ideas with each other and the public. In addition, forums empower local communities by encouraging direct participation in the political process. Our education efforts then translate into action at the ballot box, where citizens can make better-informed decisions about candidates and ballot initiatives.
