Nine Easy Steps To Green The Town Of Brookhaven

NEW YORK - The Town of Brookhaven is at a critical juncture in its long history. The Town Board, led by a new supervisor, must chart a course for the future through a deteriorating economy and persistent environmental concerns. While a number of policy initiatives must be undertaken to achieve a fully sustainable Brookhaven, there are steps that the town government can take now to lay the groundwork for a more sustainable future.

Focusing on the areas of smart growth, energy conservation and climate action, the nine steps in the Action Plan are achievable within the next six months.

"The Town of Brookhaven has long been known for its proactive approach to sustainability," said Marcia Bystryn, president of NYLCVEF. "By fully adopting this Action Plan within the next six months, town leaders can continue that tradition and make Brookhaven a leader in sustainable development."
