NYC Voter Education Campaign Made Crucial Difference

Waterfront access and better transit are two of the most important sustainability issues facing New York City and are a big part of PlaNYC.

Our Staten Island forum was held at Wagner College on Feb. 10.Our Staten Island forum was held at Wagner College on Feb. 10.Thanks to the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, both issues were also at the top of voters' minds in the New York City special elections, which were held Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Our Queens forum was held Feb. 4 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in South Ozone Park.Our Queens forum was held Feb. 4 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in South Ozone Park.After mailing to more than 25,000 voting households in Staten Island and Southern Queens, NYLCVEF recently held two community forums to hear directly from the candidates. Our South Ozone Park forum was held on Feb. 4 in conjunction with the South Ozone Park Civic Association West. Our Staten Island Forum was held Feb. 10 at Wagner College, in conjunction with the Natural Resources Protective Association. 

Both forums drew crowds and the candidates, with a focus on mass transit (in the 32nd City Council District in Queens) and on waterfront development (in the 49th City Council District on Staten Island.)
