Metro-North TrainMetro-North Train

Metro-North operates three commuter rail lines between New York City and Westchester County and points further north and east. Forty four stops serve three quarters of Westchester County’s municipalities. Approximately 100,000 Westchester commuters ride Metro-North each weekday. Recent renovations under a capital improvement plan include improved platform and station facilities, newer equipment, and larger parking areas. Plans to increase rail capacity encompass activating dormant tracks to restore service on the old Maybrook line crossing the north end of the County and adding a third track in Bronxville. In addition to this commuter service, Amtrak serves the Croton-Harmon, New Rochelle, and Yonkers stations to connect Westchester County to other parts of the United States and to Canada.

The County-managed Bee-Line Bus Service covers 450 square miles of Westchester County. With an annual ridership of 30 million, the Bee-Line system provides an estimated 100,000 passenger trips per day.

The Westchester County Airport serves 1 million passengers annually and reduces the need to travel into New York City to catch a plane. Travelers from both New York and Connecticut use the airport for its non-stop commercial service to ten major cities. In addition to the commercial service, the airport also has the largest corporate fleet in America. County planners claim that easy access to the airport is often cited as a major factor in a company’s decision to locate or expand in the area.
