Elected Officials

The elected legislative bodies of cities and towns are called Councils and are composed of three to seven members. Villages elect Boards of Trustees that consists of three to five members. The chief executive officer presides over Council or Board meetings and has an equal vote with the other members.

The chief elected officers of cities and villages are Mayors, while towns elect Supervisors. The Mayor or Supervisor may also serve as the chief administrative officer who manages the day-to-day operations of the municipality. Alternatively, a professional manager may be hired for this function
