Elected every four years, the County Executive is Westchester’s chief administrative and executive officer, to whom a number of departments, offices and agencies report directly. The County Executive signs or vetoes legislation passed by the Board of Legislators, proposes the legislative agenda, controls agency budgets, and appoints commissioners and agency directors to carry out environmental policies.
