Sustainability 101:Terms to Know

The New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NYLCVEF) seeks to educate New Yorkers about environmental issues in order to foster an environmental advocacy network in New York.

In continuing with this commitment, NYLCVEF has compiled a glossary of prevalent environmental terms. Each glossary definition includes a background, or a brief introduction to the term, as well as information about how that issue relates to environmental policymaking in the United States, New York and finally within NYLCVEF.

Understanding these terms is the first step to gaining a comprehensive knowledge of current environmental issues and will thus enable voters to make informed decisions at the polls.
