Greening the Empire State: Wind Power

10/21/2008 - 8:00am
10/21/2008 - 11:00am

The wind is an abundant and free source of energy that has been harvested for centuries to provide small scale power. But many questions about its practicality and viability as a large scale energy source linger.

Can this vast resource be cheaply harnessed to meet the growing energy needs of New York State? Can wind take the leap and become a cornerstone of a clean energy future?

Join us at 8:00 a.m. on October 21, 2008 for a discussion about the future of wind power.

Together with our co-host, New York University's Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service and its Institute for Civil Infrastructure Studies, we will set the stage for experts to lay out the facts about solar power.

Our panel will be moderated by Christopher Martin, distinguished energy reporter for Bloomberg News, and will feature the following energy experts:

Peter Mandelstam, BlueWater Wind

Kent Barwick, Municipal Art Society

Gordian Raacke, Renewable Energy Long Island

Robert Curry, New York State Public Service Commission

Paul Curran, BQ Energy

Mark Wilby, Shell Wind Energy

Iberdola US

Please join us at NYU's Kimmel Center (60 Washington Sq. South, Room 914) for a passionate discussion of our energy future!
