Educating for the environmentThe Education Fund supports programs that educate children, the public, candidates and elected officials on environmental issues facing New York State. The School Program is a program that educates our youth by weaving connections between academic subjects, civics and the environment. The Education Fund's NYC Program and Suffolk County Program educate elected officials on the issues and hold them accountable by producing reports and scorecards evaluating their performance. Our polling efforts identify where the public stands on critical environmental issues. We use that information to educate environmental groups on how to best advance their agenda. Our public forums and candidate debates inform voters about priority issues and candidates' positions. The Citizens Guides seek to educate and empower citizens with tools for environmental advocacy. Recently the Education Fund introduced candidate schools aimed at educating candidates about important regional issues and encourage them to incorporate these issues into their campaign platform. |
