Click above to read our flier, which reached thousands of East Hampton households.Long Island's East End is home to stunning landscapes, bucolic vineyards and longtime family farms. The region is also on the front lines of 21st century environmental challenges, from congested roads and imperiled estuaries to a dwindling stock of open space.
On November 3rd, residents of the towns of Southampton and East Hampton went to the polls to elect new local leaders. Before doing so, nearly 1,000 voters signed our petition telling the candidates that they want to see a commitment to:
- Keeping development in check;
- Creating a plan to protect our drinking water; and
- Making sensible zoning laws that protect our environment.
NYLCVEF cosponsored candidate forums around the region, provided contact information to the candidates' campaigns, educated voters with a mail piece and spoke to them on the phone. We will continue to work with these environmental advocates to encourage progress by each town's newly elected leaders.
