Capital District Voter Education Program

During a summer 2008 issue-based campaign, residents of Schenectady received a flyer outlining tips to help them save money and combat climate change, as well as steps Schenectady Mayor Brian Stratton could take to do the same for the city (as described in NYLCVEF’s Blueprint for a Greener Schenectady). The flyer included a tear-off postcard allowing residents to urge Mayor Stratton to develop a climate action plan for Schenectady. In addition to press coverage, the program identified over 150 people committed to the Blueprint and a partnership with the Schenectady Environmental Action Committee – comprised of local businesses and elected leaders.
