In 2007-2008, Trunzo:
- Senator Trunzo supported legislation increasing aid for the construction of "green" schools and encouraging energy audits for existing schools, including post-audit recommendations for alternative energy plans. Senate Bill 8737

- In regards to new energy production and alternative energy in New York, Senator Trunzo voted to reauthorize Article X of Public Service Law governing siting of major electric generating facilities, a bill that does not do enough to include public in decision-making or protect public health and environment. - He supports expanding eligibility criteria in existing state law to include non-residential solar and wind energy systems, and increase limits on residential solar, wind and farm waste systems S.8481 and S.8145 which creates a real property tax abatement for solar power system in New York City
- He is in favor of establishing tax credits to assist in offsetting the initial costs of constructing and installing solar and wind energy systems and fuel cell electric generating equipment, S.1634 and S.1634-b
- He voted for making taxpayers who install solar energy systems eligible for tax credits and increases size of eligible solar energy systems from 10 to 50 kilowatts S.4482
- Dealing with petroleum taxes Senator Trunzo voted to extend petroleum business tax exemptions on heating oil sold to businesses, thereby incentivizing consumption of such fuels and further degradation of NYS' air quality in 2007, S.5011, and in 2008, he supported the same legislation, S.7594-b.
- Trunzo supports energy efficient legislation S.5451, which extends the allowance of tax credits for purchase of energy efficient home heating systems (up to $500 until 2009) and for purchase of cleaner heating fuel oil (extends bio-heat tax credit until 2011).
- Senator Trunzo chose not to sponsor S.5347 and S.5371, which earmarked revenue from the sale of CO2 emissions allowances for energy efficiency and clean energy and created a dedicated clean energy fund.
