  • As Town Supervisor in Brookhaven, Foley supported a successful measure requiring that all new homes be constructed in accordance with Federal Energy Star standards. Read more here
  • Foley signed Brookhaven onto the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, committing Brookhaven to take three actions that would help in the global effort to combat climate change
  • Created a Clean Energy Action Plan for 2006 and established a Clean Energy Task Force
  • Constructed an energy producing photovoltaic carport at Town Hall.
  • Voted for the Dark Skies measure establish outdoor lighting standards throughout Brookhaven Town that will save energy.
  • Foley was the catalyst in the development of Long Island's first new major base-load power plant in five decades. The Caithness Plant will be the cleanest power plant in the entire Northeast and will save ratepayers more than $100 million a year by employing new, more efficient technology and reducing the dependence on foreign oil
