Greening the Empire State: Exploring New York's Energy Options

As energy prices soar and global warming emerges as a major threat to our state, it is increasingly clear that New York needs to start working toward a clean energy future. But what will that future look like? The media is chock full of competing proposals, from wind to solar to nuclear. The different technologies available to policymakers and consumers alike appear to be myriad.

The New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund (NYLCVEF) will be breaking through the clutter of competing interests this fall by hosting a series of policy forums entitled "Greening the Empire State." Together with our co-host, New York University's Wagner School, we will set the stage for experts to lay out the facts about solar, wind and nuclear power. Policymakers, regulators, industry insiders and financial experts will discuss the pros and cons of these technologies in the context of New York State.

Join us for a lively and informative discussion about how New York State can best lead the nation towards a clean, secure and carbon neutral energy future!

Like all of NYLCVEF's educational activities, the forums are free of charge and open to the general public.  For more information contact NYLCVEF at info@nylcvef.org or (212) 361-6350.

Dates:

Sept. 24, 2008: Solar Power

October 21, 2008: Wind Power

December 11, 2008: Nuclear Power

*Each forum will begin at 9:00 a.m.

Location:

NYU's Kimmell Center (60 Washington Square North).
